CONCEPT
For three days, Deauville becomes an international stage dedicated to the art of dance, open to all ages. Conceived as a “ballet on holiday,” the event will stand out for its relaxed atmosphere, perfectly suited to Deauville’s summer seaside setting. The festival’s signature moment will be a gala bringing together international dance stars, followed by a classical ballet class on Deauville’s famous promenade, Les Planches, which will bring together internationally renowned ballet stars as well as dance enthusiasts of all ages and levels.

WHY DEAUVILLE?
Deauville has a long-held reputation as a fashionable and aristocratic resort, having provided a haven for. the bohemian elite since the 19th century. For more than a hundred years it has served as a source of inspiration for great artists.

On August 23 and 25, 1927, the famous Anna Pavlova danced on the stage of the Casino Theatre in Deauville.

The Theatre Casino Barriere hosts Loïe Fuller’s company.

The Ballets du Marquis de Cuevas, under the direction of Bronislava Nijinska, performed thirteen summer seasons in Deauville.

Deauville was the first city to offer a stage to the young star dancer of the Kirov’s (Mariinsky) Theater, after his escape from the USSR. Two months after his “jump to freedom” Rudolf secured his first contract in the West. He made his debut in Deauville during a Gala Charity Performance commemorating the city’s centenary, on August 12, 1961.
He returned to Deauville 30 years later, on September 7, 1991, to conduct the Normandy orchestra.

Russian Ballet Returns To Deauville (2018, 2019)
After a long absence, the stars of ballet returned to the historic stage of the Casino Barrière Theater for an extraordinary performance, featuring soloists from the Bolshoi, Mariinsky, and Stanislavski & Nemirovich-Danchenko Theaters, alongside leading European balletcompanies and a renowned American choreographer. The artistic program was curated and directed by Sergei Filin, former Director of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow (2011–2016).

The American choreographer Garrett Smith served as Artistic Director of the 2025 program, which brought together artists from the Dutch National Ballet, the Bayerisches Staatsballett, the Zurich Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and the Paris Opera Ballet.
In 2025, the festival further strengthened its international reach by introducing, for the first time, a competition for young dancers featuring participants from ten countries.
One of the highlights of this edition was the open-air classical ballet class held on Deauville’s famous Planches – a first in the city’s history, turning the urban space into an open stage and a gathering place for the international dance community.

Deauville sur Pointes is a private and independent cultural initiative, founded by Veronika Bogatyreva and developed in collaboration with Natalia Gunderina and Inna Ouvaroff.

At the intersection of heritage preservation, cultural production, cultural diplomacy, and hospitality, the project proposes a new festival format bringing together international stars of classical dance, contemporary creation, and the art of living of Deauville.

    With a background in philosophy, she has extensive international experience in public affairs, cultural diplomacy and the development of cultural projects. Her work focuses on projects that connect historical heritage with the contemporary artistic and cultural landscape. Within Deauville sur Pointes, she oversees the strategic development of the project, the festival’s artistic vision, international partnerships and relations with cultural and private institutions.

    Ouvaroff
    Creative and Executive Producer of Deauville sur Pointes.

    A film director, stage director, and art historian, she is the founder of the Russian School of Arts in Paris and a creative producer of artistic and cultural projects at the crossroads of cinema, theatre, and music. Within Deauville sur Pointes, Inna oversees the artistic direction of the festival’s projects.

    Gunderina
    Producer and founder of Karmatravel, with extensive experience in luxury hospitality, international partnerships and bespoke cultural events.
    Within Deauville sur Pointes, she leads partnerships, patron relations and hospitality programmes for the festival.
